Skopje, 16 November 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Saturday two new investments are expected by the end of November, one as enlargement of an existing facility, while the other making its breakthrough. The investments will be worth about EUR 50 million and open up to 500 jobs.
"We are in talks and I expect two new investments by the end of the month, one as enlargement of an existing facility while the other making a breakthrough, both opening up to 500 jobs. There will be at least two more investments in December," PM Mickoski told reporters.
According to him, the investments will be in the sectors of construction and the automotive industry.
The PM denied that Greek company "Mytilineos" is in the mix for the construction of a co-generation gas plant in Skopje, saying three other companies are seriously interested in investing.
"Six months ago, we were critical of Mytilineos because we thought their investment would not lead to any good for the Macedonian citizens. It would be inappropriate to change our opinion only because we are now the Government," said Mickoski.
He noted this would be an investment that uses green energy.
"Of course, because we undertook a task through the Growth Plan to ensure that products exported to the EU are produced using green energy. We started last compared to the other five countries of the Western Balkans, but we will be the first to receive the initial tranche, since we had the best homework. We have an ambitious plan and we want to realize it," noted Mickoski.
