Meto Jovanovski to receive special contribution to cinema award of Kinenova film festival
Skopje, 26 October 2021 (MIA) – To me, theater is crucial, but cinema is magical, which produces results with difficulties due to many factors. Theater is the real deal for actors, the actor Meto Jovanovski stated Tuesday. He has been named recipient of the award for special contribution to cinema of the Kinenova international film festival. Jovanovski has starred both on stage and in films, including over 60 features and TV movies, including “The Longest Road” “Red Horse,” “Tatooing”, “Happy New Year ’49,” and “Before the Rain”. He has been awarded for his work spanning decades at home and abroad. Speaking at a news conference on the occasion of the recognition, Jovanovski said people treat differently artists, actors and filmmakers. “We were all beginners once and there have been always someone we know or we don’t know who have helped us find the support we need so much. When I was starting my career in the 1970s, those were different times, now I have to say things are much complicates for beginners,” he stated. This year’s edition of the Kinenova festival is dedicated to the greats in Macedonian cinema, according to its director Igor Angjelkov, who said that the decision to award Jovanovski was made without any hesitation. “The first association of a Macedonian thespian we get is exactly him in all the glory,” Angjelkov told the news conference. Meto Jovanovski will be presented with the recognition at a ceremony on Wednesday evening at the festival’s opening night. Festival organizers will also present posthumous award to the actress Sabina Ajrula – Tozija, who died earlier this year. Kinenova film festival will take place on Oct. 27-31 at two movie theaters in Skopje and it includes two competition programs, namely international short film program and Macedonian short film program.
