MakeDox holds fourth MakeCoProDox Forum
Skopje, 23 August 2022 (MIA) – Eleven registered projects will be pitched Tuesday as part of the fourth edition of the MakeCoProDox Forum at the MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival. The Forum began Monday and will last through Wednesday. On the first day, presentations on the work done by regional film centers and agencies were held. Among the participants in the first part of presentations were the producer Athena Kalkopoulou from the Greek Film Centre, Eduart Makri from the Albanian Centre of Cinematography, Marija Nikčević from the Film Centre of Montenegro and Aleksandra Mitrić-Štifanić from Film Center Serbia. During the second part of presentations, the conditions and criteria for participating in the public calls of four other regional film centers were presented. The attendees were addressed by Nika Gričar from the Slovenian Film Centre, Gergana Dakovska from the Bulgarian National Film Center, Morana Komljenović from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Lum Citaku from the Kosovo Cinematography Center. All of the film center representatives informed the interested producers and creators of the details regarding the work of the respective film centers, the criteria of their public calls and the potential support offered for film projects. Both sessions were open for questions from the producers and creators in attendance, with Helle Hansen, commissioner for documentaries at the Norwegian and Danish Film Institute, acting as the moderator during the presentations. Additionally, the activities of MEDIA Desk MK were presented by Ivana Mirchevska as part of a special presentation, within Creative Europe’s MEDIA programme. The application criteria, which mainly focus on co-production projects, were explained during the presentation. “Presentations and meetings like these are especially important to the creators and producers of documentary films, because every national center or fund is different when it comes to the participation criteria or the support they offer. On average the support offered for documentaries by the various centers is around EUR 25-30,000,” said MakeDox. The first day of the 4th MakeCoProDox Forum ended with the presentation of six developing projects from the workshop with Tue Steen Müller. The presented projects were: ‘I Don’t Want’ by Hanis Bagashov from Macedonia, ‘Isthmus’ by John Marinopoulos from Greece, ‘Iron Castle (Demir Hisar)’ by Mitko Panov from Macedonia, ‘The Land We Breathe’ by Manuel Inacker from Germany, produced by Oliver Sertić from Croatia, ‘My Living Place is Huge’ by Jose Chavez from Germany, produced by Anika Chorbeska from Macedonia, and “The Good Death” by Hasan Ete from Turkiye. The 13th edition of MakeDox is supported by the North Macedonia Film Agency, Creative Europe’s MEDIA programme, the National Endowment for Democracy – Washington, the Yunus Emre Institute – Skopje, the Czech Embassy in Skopje, the Greek Cultural Center and others.
