Skopje, 10 February 2023 (MIA) – We are working to protect the Ohrid region with the status it already has and by upgrading it, because that is the only way to affirm the status granted by UNESCO, said Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska on Friday.

Minister Kostadinovska-Stojchevska told reporters that her recent visit to Paris was for the sole purpose of informing the relevant parties about the progress of the protection of the Ohrid region in terms of preserving its UNESCO status.

“I am satisfied with the cooperation of all affected parties regarding the preservation of this status. This is not an easy and simple process at all, but the affected parties, ministers, local self-governments and the involved agencies are doing their best to continue with the same dynamic,” said Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.

The Culture Minister said that towards the end of 2022, several meetings were held with ministers, mayors and the heads of the relevant agencies, as well as the Directorate for Protection of Cultural Heritage, and they are working to protect the Ohrid region with the status it already has and by upgrading it. ad/ik/
