Skopje, 24 August 2021 (MIA) – The film ‘Sisterhood’ directed by Dina Duma and produced by List Production – Skopje had its world premiere on Monday at the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. The film, the production company said in a press release on Tuesday, was screened as part of the festival’s East of the West program, an international competition of first and second feature-length fiction and documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the countries of the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and North Africa. ‘Sisterhood’ tells the story of two teenagers whose friendship is put to the test when they are faced with the consequences of their decadent actions. The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and the most prestigious such festival in Central and Eastern Europe. It is one of the oldest A-list film festivals (i.e., non-specialized festivals with a competition for feature-length fiction films), a category it shares with the festivals in Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastian, Moscow, Montreal, Shanghai, and Tokyo. ‘Sisterhood’ stars Mia Zhiro and Antonija Belazelkoska. It’s produced by Marija Dimitorva and written by Dina Duma and Martin Ivanov. The film is backed by North Macedonia’s Film Agency and is a regional coproduction of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo.
