Danae Papamattheou–Matschke, Uwe Matschke to give recital at Skopje Summer

Skopje, 7 July 2023 (MIA) — Greek violinist Danae Papamattheou–Matschke, accompanied at the piano by her father Uwe Matschke, will give a recital featuring pieces for violin and piano by renowned Greek classical music composers as part of Skopje Summer 2023 festival.

 

The recital will feature "Whispers in the Wind" by Dimitris Terzakis, "Little Suite from the Dodecanese" by Yiannis Konstantinidis as well as sonatas for violin and piano by Boris Papandopulo and by César Frank. 


The performance was organized by the Greek Embassy in cooperation with Skopje Summer 2023 and supported by Okta.

 

Danae Papamattheou – Matschke (b. 1988, Athens) studied the violin at Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere in Weimar, the Mozarteum University Salzburg, and the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.

 

She has given recitals in Germany, USA, China, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Cyprus. She has appeared as soloist with the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Association of Friends of Music "Camerata", the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra Leipzig, and the Thüringer Philharmonie.

 

She has won the International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" (Italy), "Henri Marteau", "Jugend musiziert" (Germany), the International Competition for Young Soloists "Ersi Saratsi" and the "Panhellenic Violin Competition" (Greece).

 

Papamattheou-Matschke plays on a violin made by Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, Milan 1760.

 

Born in Germany, pianist Uwe Matschke taught at Franz Liszt Higher School of Music in Weimar before moving to Greece in 1987. He teaches piano at the Thessaloniki's Macedonia University Department of Music Science and Art.

 

He has given numerous solo recitals in major music centers in Moscow, Leipzig, Dresden, Hamburg, Munich, and Berlin. He has also collaborated with internationally renowned orchestras and chamber music ensembles as well as with renowned soloists. mr/
