Composer Ljubomir Brangjolica's works digitized to be preserved
Skopje, 16 November 2021 (MIA) – A project titled “Digitization and archiving of sheet music from the work of composer Ljubomir Brangjolica” contains 153 works of classical music, representing only part of the body of work of one of the most fruitful Macedonian composers. This is the first step of the process of digitization of the composer’s remaining works, including almost 400 ballets, symphonies, chamber orchestra pieces, operas, musicals, solo pieces, popular music, children’s music, movie scores, theater scores etc. Andrej Blazhevski, the author of this project, says that this is a remarkable feat for permanent preservation of Ljubomir Brangjolica’s works, which will diminish the risk of their potential loss and destruction if they only remain on paper. The exact number is still unknown because some of his works were never performed. The digitization of this rich opus of music will preserve them forever. The digitized material was handed over to the Composers Association of Macedonia, the Clement of Ohrid National and University Library and the MANU Archive. Most of the works will be online, accessed through the ISSUU platform. The Ministry of Culture backs this project as part of the 2021 annual contest to fund projects of national interest in culture. dk/ba/
