Skopje, 21 March 2024 (MIA) – A selection of classics of Slovak cinema filmed during the period of communist Czechoslovakia will be screened at the Cinematheque of North Macedonia as part of a retrospective of classic Slovak films set to begin on Saturday, March 23.
Feature films, documentaries, animated films and short films will be screened as part of the retrospective.
The Cinematheque said the selected films are representative of the development of Slovak cinema and have exerted great influence on contemporary Slovak filmmakers or have attained cult status.
“The retrospective is a really rare opportunity for Macedonian cinemagoers to receive meaningful insight in the history of a relatively close cinematography, such as the Slovak cinematography. It will include a diverse and exciting selection of different types of film classics from various genres,” said the Cinematheque.
The retrospective is being organized with the assistance of the Slovak Film Institute and the Slovak Embassy to North Macedonia. Screenings will be held until Friday, March 29.
