Skopje, 29 March 2023 (MIA) — Cinematheque will host a book launch for its latest publication, Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel's memoir "My Last Sigh" translated from the English into Macedonian by Marija Cvetkovska.
"My Last Sigh" was first published in French as « Mon dernier soupir » (1982), less than a year before Buñuel's death. He wrote it in Mexico with the help of the French writer and screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière.
The book not only describes the great filmmaker's personal life but also bears witness to key events of the 20th century, "fusing life with film," according to Europa Prima University's film professor Atanas Chuposki in the foreword.
At the launch, which begins at noon, Chuposki will speak about the book together with art historian and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Spanish Embassy Ernesto Heredero del Campo and Ivan Dzheparoski from the state university's Faculty of Philosophy.
Cinematheque director Vladimir Angelov is the editor of the Macedonian release. The language editor is Suzana V. Spasovska and the book designer is Igor Sekovski.
The publication was made possible thanks to the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and the Spanish Embassy. mr/
