Any attempt to deny Macedonian language results in its multiple affirmation, says Culture Minister

Skopje, 7 May 2023 (MIA) - In the 21st century, when languages are used quite intensely by many people and through various forms of verbal, written and digital communications, one cannot talk of denying a language, including the Macedonian. Any attempt to deny a language results in its multiple affirmation, says Culture Minister Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.

In an interview with racin.mk, Minister Kostadinovska-Stojchevska says the Macedonian Language Day has been recognized by the entire society.

"This year's observance and celebration involved all citizens - Macedonians, Albanians and other ethnic communities, government and opposition, young and old. This year we saw foreigners, diplomats in the country and abroad also taking part. It is apparent that the Macedonian language connects and inspires," says Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.

This ambiance, she adds, is wind at our back, especially at a time when the Macedonian language is becoming a language used in the EU and when the Macedonian Language Center was registered in Greece.

The minister says the works of Blazhe Koneski, Krste Misirkov, Aco Shopov, Kosta Racin and others were not sufficiently promoted over the past 30 years, adding that 2023 is the year dedicated to the exceptional poet Shopov.

"His 100th birth anniversary is also embedded in the UNESCO calendar and was recently observed. This year also marks the 120th anniversary from the publishing of book "On Macedonian Matters" by Krste Misirkov and the establishment of the institute bearing his name," says Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.
