Skopje, 18 July 2024 (MIA) - The 23rd CINEDAYS Festival of European Film officially closed yesterday with the screening of Woody Allen's latest film "Coup de Chance" and an awards ceremony where director Amit Ulman and his film “The City” won the Golden Star or Best Picture award, said the Youth Cultural Center (MKC) said on Thursday.

The jury consisted of film and TV editor Gorjan Atanasov, actor and director Ivica Dimitrijevikj, director Mina Djukic, producer and festival jury Rohan Berry Crickmar, and director Gentian Koçi.

Young Israeli director Noé Debré won the Silver Star award for Best Director for his film "A Nice Jewish Boy" for the unusual and thorough cinematic style employed in telling the nuanced and satirical story of the young Ruben Bellisha.

The Blue Star award for Best Screenplay was awarded to the film "Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust" for the impressive narrative in building a dystopian science-fiction world.

In the selection of films from South Eastern Europe, the jury consisting of producer Marija Dimitrova, directors Andreas Johnsenand, and cinematographer Bojana Andrikj awarded the Golden Sun-Best Film award to the Turkish film "Dormitory" by Nehir Tuna for the realistic and artistically sacred portrait of a young man growing up between two opposing worlds that reflect Turkish society in the last century and today.

The jury also gave special recognition to Emilija Gašić’s film "78 Days", dedicated to the life of several young innocent generations that were suddenly interrupted during the 78-day bombing of Serbia.

During the seven-day festival under the slogan "Shout Hurrah" the audience had the opportunity to enjoy more than 50 films and outdoor screenings at the Youth Cultural Center park, Frosina movie theater and Cinematique. ssh/ik/
