50th May Opera Evenings to present “The Young Ladies of Avignon”
Skopje, 14 May 2022 (MIA) — As part of the 50th May Opera Evenings, the National Opera and Ballet will perform “The Young Ladies of Avignon: A Ballet in Nine Paintings,” inspired by Pablo Picasso’s 1907 “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon“ on Saturday evening. The ballet premiered on March 9. The music was written by Kaliopi Bukle, and the choreography by Olga Pango, who is also the director. Dancers include Aleksandra Mijalkova, Mimi Pop-Aleksova Atanasovska, Ivana Kocevska, Sasha Evtimova, Hristina Nakevska, Miroslav Mitrashinovikj, Balázs Lőcsei, Agim Baftii, and Andrew Cook. The scenography includes elements of the set for Stojan Stojkov’s “The Dragon Bride” by set designer Valentin Svetozarev. The libretto was written by Sasho Dimoski, and the costumes were designed by Rade Vasilev. mr/
