Dimovski: Conclusion of EU integration process a top national priority we share with U.S.

Skopje, 15 December 2025 (MIA) - The United States are our stable, reliable, and strategic partner. In the past decades they played a huge role in the development of our country – from strengthening the institutions to the democratization processes and the rule of law, as well as support for economic reforms and modernization. Many of the successes we see today in various sectors are a result of U.S. support, which is why we remain firmly committed to the enhancement of this partnership as a government, said Deputy Prime Minister in charge of political system, Ljupcho Dimovski, at an event Monday on strengthening institutional capacities, marking cooperation between the United States and North Macedonia.

“The top national priority, which we share with the U.S., is a successful conclusion of the EU integration process. This isn’t just a formal political goal, but an essential development process that defines our aspirations for a stable, just, and progressive country. U.S. support is key in the reforms in various areas: democratization of institutions and civil society, strengthening the fight against corruption, promoting rule of law, digitization and transparency, encouraging economic development, investments and competitiveness,” Dimovski said at the event.

The Deputy PM said the technical assistance the country receives through the U.S. Treasury Department is essential for the modernization of North Macedonia’s public finance management system.

“The overall assistance from the U.S. is also of immense importance regarding reforms in the fight against corruption. This is an area we have identified as a top priority of our government. The fight against corruption is the basis of every stable and just society, and the assistance we receive from the U.S. Embassy enables the strengthening of institutions tasked with preventing and sanctioning corruption, human trafficking, and organized crime. It means greater capacity, greater expertise, greater tools, and finally – greater protection for the citizens,” Dimovski said.

Dimovski said he hopes in the years to come the two countries will further enhance their cooperation in all areas, stressing that the U.S. is one of the partners that are constantly behind the country, helping it accelerate its progress.

The event was also addressed by Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, and U.S. Ambassador Angela Aggeler.
