Memorandum signed with UAE on sharing experiences in gov't development, modernization

Skopje, 3 February 2026 (MIA) - The governments of the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Arab Emirates signed Tuesday a Memorandum of Understanding on exchanging experiences in government development and modernization. The document was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at a bilateral meeting in Dubai.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said the Memorandum establishes an institutional framework for systemic cooperation aimed at public policy development, administrative capacity-building, digital transformation, and the application of innovative models of governance. 

“The signing of the document opens new opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and good practices, as well as for the realization of joint activities and projects in areas of mutual interest, with the goal of raising the efficiency and quality of government services,” the Ministry stressed.

The meeting also discussed the opportunity of establishing a direct air link between Skopje and the UAE. 

“At the same time, a comprehensive overview of bilateral relations was carried out, assessing opportunities for their further enhancement. A special emphasis was placed on promoting political cooperation, strengthening economic ties, and intensifying trade between the two countries,” the Ministry added.

Both sides affirmed the shared commitment to further strengthen partner relations and develop concrete intiatives.
