Skopje, 20 January 2026 (MIA) - The minimal consumer basket in January 2026 stands at Mden 66,413 (EUR 1,079), up by Mden 921 over the one in December, said the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) on Tuesday.

According to SSM, renting a 60m2 apartment increases the costs to Mden 81,788 (EUR 1,329).

The cost of food and beverages in the minimal consumer basket stands at Mden 24,211 (EUR 393), while Mden 6,338 (EUR 103) are required for utility costs.

Due to the increased cost of living, SSM has demanded for an increase of the minimum wage to EUR 600 and all other salaries, while announcing that protests would be staged in the coming period.
