Skopje, 2 April 2026 (MIA) – The Chief State Public Prosecutor, Nenad Saveski, on Thursday expressed regret after Lenche Ristoska earlier announced she is resigning as public prosecutor saying the decision he made to revoke the authorisations she had been given by his predecessors isn’t personal, but it’s of “organizational nature”.
It’s in no way related to the performance of the prosecutor Ristoska, he noted.
“In principle, I don’t want to comment on personal decisions, but I do express regret over Ristoska’s decision. She herself notified me via SMS after filing the resignation and I found out the reasons why she resigned by reading the news.”
“The Public Prosecution Office is left without a public prosecutor who I expected to contribute to strengthening the capacities of this institution, especially through her work as a liaison prosecutor at Eurojust,” Saveski told reporters.
The decision to revoke her authorisations isn’t personal, it’s of organizational nature, he added, which aims to boost the efficiency of the public prosecution.
“I take this opportunity to call in all public prosecutors not to allow anything to affect our professional integrity and everyday performance. Also, I call on all socially influential entities to create an atmosphere in which the image of the public prosecutors won’t be tarnished because it is in the interest of not only the public prosecutors, but also of all citizens that exercise their individual rights and freedoms through the public prosecution,” Saveski said.
He noted that he will keep on making decisions that guarantee the independence of the Public Prosecution Office.
