Turkish ‘Yildirim’ acquires Euronickel, workers to gradually return to work: union leader

Kavadarci, 2 May 2024 (MIA) - Turkish company “Yildirim” has acquired the assets of Kavadarci-based ferronickel producer Euronickel Industries, formerly called Feni Industries, and the workers should be gradually returning to work, the head of the Union of Industry, Energy, and Mining of Macedonia (SIER), Igor Gjerasov told MIA on Thursday.

Gjerasov added that the Union recently met with the new leadership.

“At the meeting we were told that in around three months the producer is expected to restart its operations and begin production, as a union we hope that the workers will return to work, considering this is a company which is significant for the Macedonian economy as well as the economy of Kavadarci,” Gjerasov said.

The Kavadarci-based ferronickel producer which formerly employed around 800 workers entered bankruptcy proceedings in February.
