Customs Administration head Nikolovski meets Greek counterpart, Mourtidis

Skopje, 20 December 2024 (MIA) - The customs authorities of North Macedonia and Greece will work together to promote trade and security policies in cross-border trade, said the Customs Administration of North Macedonia in a press release Friday after the meeting of its Director General, Boban Nikolovski, with the head of the Greek General Directorate of Customs and Excise Duty, Konstantinos Mourtidis.  

At the meeting, the heads of the two customs authorities agreed on initiatives on which they will cooperate in the coming period, including the establishment of green corridors; a two-way electronic exchange for every import and export at the three border crossings between the two countries; a one-stop concept at the Bogorodica – Evzonoi; as well as the exchange of information and the creation of risk profiles for investigations. 

“As neighboring countries, it is crucial that we strengthen ties and promote cooperation between the two authorities, by sharing the best practices, exchanging information in real-time, as well as implementing joint initiatives for the facilitation of trade,” Nikolovski said.

The head of the Greek General Directorate of Customs and Excise Duty, Konstantinos Mourtidis, highlighted the joint goals of the customs authorities aimed at facilitating trade.
