Taravari: Top priority to start negotiations with EU; can find acceptable solution with Bulgaria

Skopje, 7 June 2024 (MIA) — Gostivar Mayor Arban Taravari and member of the Worth It coalition in an TV24 appearance on Friday evening said there was "a real chance" of him becoming minister of health in the new government led by Hristijan Mickoski.

Asked whether the new government would accept the constitutional name of the country, Taravari said that people can use whatever name they wanted to in private conversations but should honor the constitutional name in official communication.

"The state's top priority is to start negotiations with the EU. The country should stay on the European path," Taravaru said.

"Let's find out what will be acceptable for Bulgaria's future government," he said, adding that Worth It members were encouraging the new PM "so the constitutional changes happen as soon as possible."

On the agreement with VMRO-DPMNE and ZNAM regarding government posts, he said "the distribution is correct, in relation to the overall situation."

"Numbers and institutions are not very important. The people who will lead them, and mutual respect in the future government, is what's important."

The Gostivar mayor also said he was optimistic about the bill on the reorganization of government ministries and new departments. He said he expected the bill to pass in Parliament with the support of all parties. mr/
