Skopje, 26 January 2023 (MIA) – A delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy led by Minister Ljupcho Nikolovski participated at the opening of AGRO Belgrade 2023 international fair on Thursday.

AGRO Belgrade is a leading fair showcasing fruit and vegetable processing companies and wine producers from the region, with a network of renowned local, regional and global companies and buyers creating new contacts, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy said in a press release.

“Over 500 exhibitors from the region and the world are participating in this year’s AGRO Belgrade 2023 fair. The Macedonian stand, as part of this year’s fair edition, presents several renowned Macedonian companies, fruit and vegetable processing companies and wine producers, financially supported by the Ministry. Visitors to the fair had the opportunity to taste the fine Macedonian wine, traditional Macedonian ajvar, and other products displayed at our stand,” reads the press release.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, its rural development support program has provided them with financial support to exhibit at 50 domestic and 15 international events and promote Macedonian agricultural products and beverages.

Minister Nikolovski and Serbia’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Jelena Tanasković pledged towards further boosting mutual cooperation, and guaranteed citizens of both countries a reliable supply of food.

“The Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia have excellent mutual cooperation, both in terms of mutual agreements and protocols, and in terms of trade. The Open Balkan initiative proved to be the right decision at the right time, already giving results. As neighboring countries, we demonstrated solidarity, humanity and mutual cooperation in action during the food, economic and energy crisis. The conference part within the AGRO Belgrade fair is also important. This year it covered current topics in the area of fruit growing, gardening and viticulture. One of the main topics was dealing with climate change and its impact on changes in fruit and vegetable production,” adds the press release.
