Skopje, 24 December 2024 (MIA) – Catholics and some Orthodox Christians who observe the Gregorian calendar are celebrating Christmas Eve on Tuesday evening.

The central celebration in the country will take place at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Skopje. The Christmas Eve Mass will be led by Bishop of Skopje and Strumica-Skopje Eparch, Kiro Stojanov.

The Greek, Bulgarian, Romanian, Ukrainian and Georgian Orthodox churches are set to celebrate Christmas on Wednesday as well, after adopting the Gregorian calendar.

The rest of the Orthodox world, which follows the Julian calendar, including the Russian, Serbian, and Macedonian Orthodox Church, as well as the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the monks at Mount Athos, will celebrate Christmas on January 7.
