Skopje, 3 April 2024 (MIA) – My policies are correct and in the interest of all citizens regardless of their religion, ethnicity or economic status and affect everyone, Stevcho Jakimovski said at a convention on Wednesday evening of the coalition “Brave for Macedonia” led by the Citizen Option for Macedonia (GROM), Macedonian Conservative Party (INTEGRA) and Party for Full Emancipation of Roma (PCER).
At the convention promoting his presidential bid, Jakimovski stressed that the president won’t have a symbolic role, since, he said, “the president will be faced with great pressures, amendments to strange laws and to the Constitution, as well as pressure to give up on certain matters of identity”.
“The citizens already had a chance to test me to see if I submit to blackmail and threats. They had a chance to see that even America couldn’t make me sway even a single millimeter when it comes to the Republic of Macedonia. And everything I have to say, I will say because I am doing my job honestly and honorably,” Jakimovski said.
The presidential candidate said he would do everything in order to protect the citizens from “external influence, unprincipled attacks and various blacklists”.
“In foreign policy we will strengthen our positions in NATO structures and fulfill the conditions for EU accession, but with a clear insistence on greater respect for our country and by letting the EU and our strategic partner know that we won’t negotiate our identity and language with anyone, and that we are also not ready to wait on EU accession forever,” stressed Jakimovski.
