Skopje, 6 August 2021 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi on Friday scheduled the local elections, now set to take place on October 17, 2021. The decision on scheduling elections, signed by Xhaferi, will be sent to the State Election Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Justice. Voters in the Oct. 17 local elections will elect members of municipal councils and the council of the City of Skopje, as well as municipal mayors and the mayor of the City of Skopje. “Since election campaign starts 20 days before election day, Parliament during that period will not hold sessions. It will allow political parties and candidates to fully commit to the election campaign all the while eliminating possibilities to relocate the campaign in Parliament,” said Xhaferi.
