Skopje, 2 September 2023 (MIA) - As of Saturday, Skopje's Belasica Bridge opens for light vehicle traffic along the two side lanes, whereas the two center lanes will open as soon as ESM completes construction works. 

"The expert report on the condition of the bridge on Belasica boulevard has shown no structural damage that impairs the safety of the bridge," the City of Skopje said in a press release.

It adds that the report has found surface cracks in the outer layer of the central part of the bridge, caused by the burning of the insulation of ESM's hot water pipes, which ESM is to repair in order to install new hot water pipes and ensure continued heating supply.

Skopje's Belasica Bridge has been closed to traffic for four months, after a fire broke out on May 12.
