Simovski: Census conducted successfully, results by end of March 2022
Skopje, 30 September 2021 (MIA) – The 2021 Population and Housing Census in North Macedonia has been conducted successfully. 1,832,696 people, 568,175 households and 837,255 apartments have been counted, the State Statistical Office (SSO) head Apostol Simovski told a press conference late on Thursday.
Simovski said that 204,805 Macedonian citizens filled out the online census survey, mostly from Western European countries, and far less from overseas countries.
According to him, the number of those who refused to register is negligible, but in the next few days, the State Statistical Office (SSO) should make the final checks and summarizing of the data, and it will be known exactly.
The SSO is to publish the official results of the census in six months at latest or by the end of March 2022.
“The census has been completely successfully conducted. The country has shown that it has the capacity to conduct such a difficult statistical operation. All homes were visited, all citizens were part of the census, and those who were not included, and are part of the databases, will be included in the census,” said Simovski.
He said that the combined census method enabled efficient monitoring of the census. Of the covered housing facilities, he noted, 91 percent were subject to the census. The remaining nine percent are not residential facilities.
SSO Deputy Director Ilmi Selami also addressed the press conference.
