Skopje, 2 August 2024 (MIA) – Friday marks the 121st anniversary of the Ilinden Uprising and the Krushevo Republic and the 80th anniversary of the first ASNOM Session. 

The central event marking Republic Day – Ilinden will take place in Krushevo at the Mechkin Kamen site with an address by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who will lay wreaths at the Nikola Karev grave, the Sliva monument and at Mechkin Kamen earlier in the day.

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova will address an event at Pelince, where she will lay wreaths at the ASNOM Memorial Center. She will tour the Prohor Pchinski monastery, which was the place where the first ASNOM session was held, accompanied by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. After holding a bilateral meeting, the two presidents will address members of the media. 

Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi will lay wreaths at the monument of the president of the ASNOM presidium, Metodija Andonov – Chento on Macedonia square in Skopje before addressing a Republic Day event in front of the Parliament.

SDSM leader Venko Filipche will also lay wreaths at the Metodija Andonon – Chento monument, the ASNOM monument and the Nikola Karev monument before speaking to members of the media. 

Festivities marking the 121st anniversary of the Ilinden Uprising and the Krushevo Republic kicked off Thursday evening in Krushevo.
