Public Security Bureau head Janev attends 2nd SEPCA General Assembly
- The Director of the Public Security Bureau, Aleksandar Janev, took part in the 2nd General Assembly of the Southeast Europe Police Chiefs Association (SEPCA) in Belgrade on Thursday. The event, hosted under Serbia's presidency, was supported by strategic partners and organisations including INTERPOL, OSCE, the US Embassy in Belgrade, and the EU4FAST regional project.
Skopje, 12 December 2024 (MIA) - The Director of the Public Security Bureau, Aleksandar Janev, took part in the 2nd General Assembly of the Southeast Europe Police Chiefs Association (SEPCA) in Belgrade on Thursday. The event, hosted under Serbia's presidency, was supported by strategic partners and organisations including INTERPOL, OSCE, the US Embassy in Belgrade, and the EU4FAST regional project.
Director Janev, in his speech, highlighted the Macedonian police’s role in addressing key issues identified within SEPCA. He discussed efforts to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling, security threat assessments for the SEPCA region in 2024 and the importance of regional cooperation in tackling all forms of crime, including cybercrime, the Interior Ministry said in a press release.
Janev emphasized that only with joint, open, and intensive cooperation, along with the reduction of bureaucratic procedures, can we confront any possible challenges generated by different forms of organized and transnational crime, thereby demonstrating our strong shared commitment to the complete eradication of these serious criminal activities.
As part of the Macedonian police's dedication to establishing strong regional and international partnerships, in order to build a safer region, safer lives for citizens, and a more secure future for future generations, the Public Security Bureau head Janev held several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event. These included discussions with colleagues from the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Albania, as well as with INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi and INTERPOL Vice President for Africa, Mohamed Dkhissi. The goal was to continue vital talks on enhancing the Macedonian police's capacities, through the implementation of modern digital tools for rapid and precise detection of public safety risks.
The General Assembly of SEPCA was opened by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić. Following the event, the Republic of Albania took over the formal presidency of SEPCA.
