Skopje, 16 January 2024 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski gave a proposal for overcoming of the problem related to the replacement of personal documents and passports. On the communication with Greece, he can assist the process but has not undertaken a task in that sense, his Office said on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said earlier today that "the President has undertaken the task to talk over the phone with his Greek counterpart".
"As stated before, President Stevo Pendarovski gave a proposal for overcoming of the problem related to the replacement of personal documents and passports, but this procedure is entirely in the jurisdiction of the Government and the Parliament. On the communication with Greece, President Pendarovski can assist the process but has not undertaken a task in that sense," reads the press release.
Last week, President Pendarovski said he put forward a proposal to two ministers for a swift intervention in the laws on IDs and passports over extension of the deadline for their replacement by September or October, while notifying Greece that the country does not intend to shun away from the obligations undertaken with the Prespa Agreement.
