PM Mickoski meets Congresswoman Tenney, co-chair of Congressional Macedonian Caucus

Skopje, 9 July 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski met with Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, co-chair of the Congressional Macedonian Caucus.

"We discussed intensive cooperation based on principles of friendship, mutual respect and mutual support. Strategic interests are realized through intensive contacts and policy of principles. We are fighting for Macedonian positions in every field," Mickoski posted on Facebook.

As part of the visit to Washington, PM Mickoski held several meetings. He had a productive and friendly meeting with Congressman Brendan Boyle, discussing the priorities of the NATO Alliance and the importance of preserving democracy and peace. Talks promoted the economic opportunities and potentials of the country, as well as the decisive fight against corruption and crime, which is a key commitment of the new government.

Mickoski also held a working meeting with National Democratic Institute (NDI) president Tamara Cofman Wittes, discussing the democratic processes in the country, the Government said in a press release.

"One of the most acute problems is corruption, and as a new Government we are working intensively to eradicate it, which also implies accountability for those who break the law. We must not fail to live up to the citizens' expectations, we must work on establishing mechanisms where citizens and their interests will be protected. The time of lies, incompetence and non-work is over. The time of reforms, investments, digital transformation begins. We must set a good example for everyone in finding a way to a better standard of living and a secure state that belongs to all citizens," Mickoski told the meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mickoski also met with former U.S. Ambassador Philip Reeker, discussing the challenges faced by the country and the support it needs to achieve its strategic interests.

The two also discussed the region’s potential for economic and political cooperation.

"We must change the reality and improve the lives of the citizens," Mickoski said, as cited in the press release.
