Pendarovski waiting for information on Zaev’s resignation, name of new PM-designate
Skopje, 23 December 2021 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski has still not received a formal information from the Parliament on the verification of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s resignation and consequently that of the Government, the President’s Office told MIA.
Earlier today, the Parliament verified Zaev’s resignation.
According to Article 90 of the Constitution, the President shall entrust the government mandate to a candidate of a party/parties having majority in the Parliament within 10 days. The PM-designate submits a programme and proposes the government cabinet within 20 days from obtaining the mandate. The Parliament elects the Government by majority of votes.
The parliamentary majority is expected to nominate Dimitar Kovachevski, SDSM leader and incumbent Deputy Minister of Finance, as the PM-designate. The new Government is expected to take office in mid-January.
