Skopje, 31 July 2022 (MIA) – State-church delegations from North Macedonia and Serbia will attend the August 2 event in St.Prohor Pchinski monastery, says President Stevo Pendarovski. President Pendarovski told Kanal 5 TV this year’s Ilinden is celebrated in the same way as in past decades and nothing has changed after the signing of the bilateral protocol with Bulgaria. “The fact that Bulgaria will celebrate it as well is their business. Nothing has changed because the issue has never been discussed by the historical commission,” says Pendarovski. He says Ilinden is always celebrated at two locations, one in Krushevo and the other in Pelince, since it was impossible to honor the day at the site where the modern Macedonian state was established – St.Prohor Pchinski. “We will visit the monastery. Church-state delegations from North Macedonia and Serbia will be present. Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic will head the Serbian delegation, I will lead our delegation that will also include a couple of ministers and Macedonian Orthodox Church bishops,” says Pendarovski.
