Minister Minchev hopes for a compromise with unions on increased salaries in next year's budget

Skopje, 31 July 2024 (MIA) – Perhaps it won’t be included in the revision of this year’s budget, because it is in a very bad shape, but I hope we will find a compromise together with the trade unions as part of the funds projected for the future budget, Minister for Public Administration Goran Minchev said regarding public sector pay raises, which is being insisted on by the trade unions.

Minchev said he has held meetings with several unions on the issue of rising salaries.

“I wouldn’t speculate as we are about to start the debate, but we will have the opportunity to offer our solutions, the unions will offer their solutions. The goal is, in fact, to find some joint solution,” Minchev told reporters after the opening of the first in a series of debates on public administration reforms.

The Association of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) demands that the government should project increase in salaries in the budget. SSM head  Slobodan Trendafilov said earlier today that he expected the ministers to confirm rise in salaries as of September.
