Skopje, 15 July 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters on Monday that his visit to Washington was “exceptionally successful” with an intensive agenda, during which “the other side had a chance to see different politicians, with a clear plan and priorities”.
“I would assess the visit to Washington, which had an intensive agenda, as an exceptionally successful visit, during which the other side had a chance to see different politicians, with a clear plan and priorities, and not politicians who say ‘yes’ to everything. We presented our plan, we said what our priorities are, as citizens and as a country, and I think the other side received information on some things they’d never heard before,” Mickoski said in answer to a journalist’s question in Ohrid.
Mickoski added that they would defend the interests of the state with dignity, stressing that there must be rule of law in the country, and the institutions must be functional.
“We won’t be politicians who are saying ‘yes’ to everything abroad while holding their hand to their heart and bending their spine. On the contrary, we will defend our interests with dignity, on some things we will agree, on others we won’t. This is a priority for us. We don’t intend to rob the Macedonian citizens or Macedonia. On the contrary, we must have rule of law, we must have functional institutions, and politicians must serve the citizens as much as it is possible. The time when we had a few happy politicians and hundreds of thousands of unhappy citizens is over, now things must be completely different from before,” Mickoski said.
