Mickoski demands Parliament session on constitutional amendments to be held immediately after summer recess
Tetovo, 15 August 2022 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski demanded that the ruling parties schedule the Parliament session on the constitutional amendments immediately after Parliament’s summer recess. If over 80 MPs support the constitutional amendments for the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution, Mickoski said he will retire from politics immediately after. However, he will demand snap elections if Parliament rejects the constitutional amendments proposal. “I said yesterday that I trust every VMRO-DPMNE MP not to vote for the constitutional amendments under these conditions, and if something like that happens, I will leave politics permanently. Because I have full confidence in all of them. Right here in Tetovo we will take one more step, and send a message to the Government led by DUI and SDSM and Dimitar Kovachevski, as soon as the MPs return from their yearly recess, the first item of the agenda in Parliament should be the constitutional amendments proposal and if 80 MPs vote for the proposal, then I will fulfill my promise on the very same day. In case there aren't 80 votes, then we will go to snap elections,” said Mickoski in Tetovo. Mickoski will meet with coalition partners on Monday and Tuesday in order to specify the referendum question and the possible constitutional amendments session. “I have had meetings with four coalition partners so far. I will continue tomorrow with consultations as well, until we’ve had consultations with all coalition partners, and then on a party level, once Parliament is functional, we will come out with a final position concerning the referendum, but I believe that the position is clear and has been stated numerous times already,” said Mickoski. In Tetovo, Mickoski joined the campaign for the Tetovo City Council snap elections and met with citizens. ad/sk/
