Marichikj in Strasbourg: Region in EU is vital to success
Skopje, 31 March 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj met with EU Ambassador to the Council of Europe, Meglena Kuneva, in Strasbourg on Thursday. Participants in the meeting discussed several important topics, focusing on the country’s European integration process, the importance of regional cooperation, the new dynamics in the cooperation with Bulgaria, as well as Kuneva’s experience as former Deputy PM for European Policies Coordination and Institutional Affairs of Bulgaria, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release. “I got very useful, experience-based advice from Meglena Kuneva, about the course of negotiations with the European Union and the challenges that await us in the process. Bulgaria’s experience and the lessons learned in the negotiation process are of great importance to us, at a time when the Secretariat for European Affairs is in the process of preparing the capacities of the negotiating bodies,” Marichikj said. Commenting on the course of the negotiation process, the EU Ambassador to the Council of Europe, Kuneva, said it would be the best period for the country that would give a new pace of the reforms and a new energy of the administration, which is key in the accession process. Kuneva expressed strong support for the renewed dialogue with Bulgaria and cooperation at all levels, voicing confidence that differences will be overcome sooner and North Macedonia would start EU accession negotiations as soon as possible.
