Macedonian National Theater play opens 56th
Prilep, 3 June 2022 (MIA) – After having skipped its milestone 55th edition due to the pandemic, the 56th edition of the Macedonian Theater Festival “Vojdan Chernodrinski” will begin on Friday night in Prilep with the play titled "People’s Enemy" by Henrik Ibsen, marking the return of the most renowned event showcasing productions by  Macedonian theaters. The first play of the night, "People’s Enemy", directed by Nina Nikolikj and produced by the Macedonian National Theater in Skopje, will open the festival. During the festival, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to actress Bedija Begovska, a doyen of the Turkish Theater, and playwright Rusomir Bogdanovski. Eight plays by Macedonian theaters are in the competition for the best production at the 56th Macedonian Theater Festival "Vojdan Chernodrinski", which include Arturo Ui" by Bertold Brecht, directed by Gendrim Rihani at the Bitola Theater, "Marriage of Maria Brown" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, directed by Dragana Tanevska at the Strumica Garden Theater " by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, directed by Vladimir Milcin at the Turkish Theater, "Decameron" by Giovanni Boccaccio, directed by Martin Kochovski at the Prilep Theater, "Knots" by Refet Abazi, directed by Kushtrim Bekteshi at the Albanian Theater, Klet "By Neil Simon, directed by Sinisa Evtimov at the Comedy Theater," People's Enemy "by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Nina Nikolic on MNT and" My name is Goran Stefanovski "("My name is Goran Stefanovski ") directed by Branislav Micunovic at the Drama Theater. The jury judging the plays this year is composed of director Ljupcho Gjorgievski, actor Besfort Idrizi, and theater critic Sotir Trajkov.
