Kovachevski: Macedonian to be official EU language, no footnotes or additions
Skopje, 2 July 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski has denied “lies and speculation” related to the French proposal, saying the Macedonian language will be an official EU language, with no footnotes or additions. “There have been many lies and speculation related to the French proposal. Let me be crystal clear: this proposal makes the Macedonian language absolutely clear and equal with all other languages in Europe. The Macedonian language will be an official language of the European Union. No footnotes, no additions – these are all lies,” PM Kovachevski wrote in a Facebook post. Our strategy and plan has produced results, he adds, and we have a new proposal that protects our strategic and national interests. “We will not allow their jeopardizing, both in the proposal and in the negotiations,” says Kovachevski.
