Kovachevski: Debates take place in institutions, not at leaders meetings and on TV

Skopje, 11 May 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said that the leader of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski is not interested in debates, but in blocking processes in the country and announced a TV duel with him “when the time comes.”

Discussions are held in the institutions, not at leaders meetings and TV debates, Kovachevski said in an interview with Kanal 5 TV Thursday evening.

He once again urged the opposition to unblock the processes that mean the advancement of the state and integration into the EU.

“There will be a TV duel, but when the time comes. There are institutions where debate should be conducted. We cannot constantly replace the institutional discussion with leaders meetings and TV debates. Institutional reforms, highways and reforms are not worked on at leadership meetings and televised debates, but in the Parliament, the Government and in adequate working groups. I once again urged the opposition representatives, if Apasiev allows them, to join the processes that mean the advancement of the state and integration into the EU,” Kovachevski said.

Kovachevski added that at the moment half a billion euros of money for the citizens are blocked in the Parliament. - funds from the EIB, funds from the EBRD under extremely favourable interest rates.
