Kovachevski calls on everyone to rise to the challenge of completing statehood through joining EU
Skopje, 29 September 2022 (MIA) – The screening process has begun. Our teams are in Brussels, where our legislation is reviewed in detail by professional teams. I call on all stakeholders to rise to the challenge of the decisive moments for the completion of our statehood, through full-fledged membership in the European Union, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said on Thursday.
According to the PM, the country is faced with major challenges amid decisive moments in which its future is defined.
“As a state-building party and responsible leaders, and leaders of all founding decisions since the independence for an independent, equal and Euro-Atlantic country in the past three decades, I think it’s the right time to call all stakeholders, citizens, the media, non-governmental organizations, the academic community and political parties to rise to the challenge of the decisive moments for the completion of our statehood through full-fledged EU membership,” PM Kovachevski told Thursday’s Q&A session in Parliament.
North Macedonia, he added, needs harmony, unity, togetherness and leadership.
“That’s what our citizens expect. That’s what our country needs, and we’re ready to do it,” Kovachevski said.
Kovachevski also called on coalition partners together with whom, he noted, difficult and crucial decisions have been made on independence and equality, as well as the opposition, to unite towards European integration.
Asked about measures for pay and pensions rise according to the new methodology, Kovachevski stressed that the government has continued with the establishment of a system of continuous wage growth, particularly in education, child protection, as well as healthcare.
According to Kovachevski, the country’s transformation towards a full-fledged EU member lies, among other things, in the ability to create conditions and an environment that enables its students to work in good conditions and to be educated with high-quality teaching materials.
