Skopje, 25 January 2024 (MIA) – The Judicial Council held an urgent session on Thursday debating a decision on temporarily assigning newly elected Skopje Appellate Court judge Osman Shabani to the Skopje-based Criminal Court over the cases 'Talir' and 'Titanic'. 

Following a two-hour debate with six votes in favor and six votes against, the Judicial Council was unable to reach a decision. 

Shabani led the case dubbed "Talir 1", related to illegal financing of VMRO-DPMNE and opened in 2019, which is currently in evidentiary proceedings, as well as the retrial for the "Titanic 1" case, which was opened in 2018, in which he is also the president of the trial council.

Last week, the Judicial Council decided to temporarily assign newly elected Skopje Appellate Court judge Aleksandra Risteska to the Skopje-based Criminal Court, as she was a member of the trial council in the 'Laskarci' bus crash case, in which a verdict was announced today.
