Skopje, 17 April 2026 (MIA) - One person has been injured in a fire that erupted Friday afternoon near Skopje’s Kale fortress, where dry grass, waste, and parked vehicles caught fire, the Interior Ministry said.

According to initial police reports, three vehicles were also damaged in the blaze.

Skopje Fire Brigade commander Zvonko Tomeski told MIA that a fire on “Lazar Lichenoski” street near Skopje’s Kale fortress, opposite the City Stadium, damaged five vehicles, three partially and two completely burned. The blaze was extinguished by three fire engines and eight firefighters.

The fire was reported at 3:40 pm, with dry grass, waste and parked vehicles burning.

“With a rapid intervention, the fire was brought under control and fully extinguished at 4:40 pm,” the commander said.
