Grubi-Koja: Proposal opens Skopje's process to join the EU
Skopje, 6 July 2022 (MIA) - First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi, who also serves as minister for political system, held Wednesday a meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Clemens Koja to discuss the challenges of North Macedonia's integration process, the content of the French Presidency's proposal for settling the dispute with Bulgaria and the protests against the proposal. Grubi said it is very important to unblock the country's EU path by accepting the proposal supported by the 27 EU member states, which doesn't affect the identity, cultural, linguistic and historical characteristics of the Macedonian people, his office said in a press release. In these crucial times for the European future of the country, rational behavior is needed and the historic opportunity to close the last dispute that hinders the country's European perspective should be seized, both Grubi and Koja concluded. They also called for comprehensive commitment of all political parties, the civil society and the academic world as well as the citizens to overcome the country's final challenge. Discussing the reactions following the publishing of the proposal, Grubi condemned the violence that broke out at the protests calling them "harmful attempts for manipulation, creating confusion and destabilizing the country." According to him, the citizens shouldn't fall prey to provocation by certain agencies for disorientation, because the guaranteed security and progress of the country is supported by the whole Western world, said the press release.
