Gov’t endorses decision on reducing risks of electricity price hike
Skopje, 28 December 2021 (MIA) – At its 130th session on Tuesday the government adopted changes to the decree on criteria and conditions for declaring state of crisis in case of weather and natural disasters, accidents, and disruptions in electricity markets, energy supply in state of crisis and ensuing measures, as well as the rights and responsibilities of licensed electricity companies. Proposed changes, the government said in a press release, ensure that EVN Home in a state of crisis is able to avoid procuring electricity from licensed electricity companies that use renewable energy sources, thus cutting expenses, enabling EVN Home to procure energy from AD ESM Skopje at a lower price and reducing factors that impact the final electricity price. Moreover, having in mind high electricity prices at the open energy market, energy from licensed producers, will be allocated to the remaining suppliers. “This way, the portion of electricity from licensed producers in the overall portfolio of suppliers will increase, to their benefit, as the average electricity price from licensed producers is currently significantly lower than that in the open market,” read the release.
