German forensic report on Tetovo hospital fire sent to prosecutors
Tetovo, 17 January 2022 (MIA) – Forensic investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany (BKA) after months-long investigation into the fire that burned down a modular Covid hospital in Tetovo last September prepared and sent a report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. After receiving it this past Friday, the Tetovo prosecution is yet to analyze the report, which is written in German. “The seven-page report is in German and it was ordered today to be translated. Once the translation is finished, the five prosecutors tasked with investigating the case will hold a meeting to decide on the next steps and whether parts of the report will be released to the public,” Tetovo prosecutor Besir Aliu told MIA. The hospital fire killed 14 people on Sept. 8, 2021. In October, the prosecution citing police investigation report said the incident happened as a result of an extension cord catching fire while a defibrillator, a mobile phone charger and another device were plugged in.
