European traveling open-air cinema kicks off in Tetovo

Skopje, 14 June 2024 (MIA) - The “European Traveling Cinema Under the Open Sky", as a warm-up for the Cinedays European Film Festival, kicks off on Friday in Tetovo with an open-air screening of the short Macedonian film 'The Script' directed by Aleksandra Kardalevska. 

Friday's program also includes an open-air screening of the documentary 'Efterklang: The Makedonium Band', directed by Andreas Johnsen, which saw its premiere at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival CPH:DOX.  

The program continues with a concert performance by the band Stoned Henge from Tetovo. 

On Saturday (June 15), the open-air traveling cinema will show the screening of 'The Old Oak', directed by Ken Loach. The film, which tells the story of an incredible friendship, has been nominated for some of the most prestigious film awards across the world. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Zlatko Gjeleski, film critic and Artan Sadiku, activist and theoretician. 

Saturday's program ends with a screening of the short film 'A Tone of Icecream' directed by Sandra Gjorgjievska. 

The European open-air cinema then travels to the "Makedonium" monument in Krushevo on June 21-22, and concludes at the House of Culture in Gevgelija on June 28-29.   

The "European Traveling Cinema Under the Open Sky" is an annual showcase of new European films acknowledged by critics and loved by European audiences, traveling each year to three different towns throughout the country. 

This year too, the “European Traveling Cinema Under the Open Sky” will bring new European feature films and Macedonian short films at open-air screenings to audiences throughout the country.
