Eight Syria migrants found in Gevgelija, Serbian smuggler detained

Skopje, 12 August 2023 (MIA) - Gevgelija police officers detained early Saturday a 22-year-old Serbian national under the suspicion of migrant smuggling.

The suspect was driving a Serbia-registered vehicle that was involved in a traffic accident, with eight illegal migrants found inside, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

The suspect is set to be charged, while the migrants have been transferred to the Gevgelija-based reception-transit center.
