Skopje, 26 October 2024 (MIA) - The Macedonian Government remains committed to the projects implemented with the support of the World Bank and the possibility of greater coverage within the approved Country Partnership Framework of about USD 700 million. The support from the World Bank is ongoing, and it will continue in the coming period, also providing support for the country's development agenda, as noted at the meetings of the Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Antonella Bassani, the World Bank Group Executive Director Eugene Rhuggenaath and the World Bank Country Director for the Western Balkans Xiaoqing Yu.

"Reform implementation with the World Bank's support is an ongoing process, and it will continue in the coming period. Currently, 10 projects are being implemented, the amount of which is over USD 460 million, and for Macedonia this means improvement of municipal local infrastructure, construction and reconstruction of roads, modernization of agriculture, energy efficiency, reforms in the social sector, primary education and public administration. The reforms will continue in the coming period through the implementation of the Country Partnership Framework 2024-2028 with a focus on better quality delivery of public services, increasing the productivity of jobs in the private sector, as well as increased climate resilience," Minister Dimitrieska Kochoska pointed out.

According to the Ministry of Finance, she noted that activities are underway to strengthen the institutions' capacities for greater absorption and implementation of the projects regarding which funds have been approved by international financial institutions, including the World Bank.

Participants in the meetings stressed the importance of the continuous support provided by the World Bank Group for the reforms in the country, which, adds the press release, is also supporting the new Government's policies in creating a sound basis to ensure macroeconomic stability and accelerated economic growth.

The Minister of Finance participated in the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, alongside National Bank Governor Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, where the two held meetings with top officials of the international financial institutions.
