COVID-19: Official PCR positivity rate 44.5%; 1,171 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 275 reinfections
Skopje, 1 August 2022 (MIA) — Of the 2,631 SARS-CoV-2 tests done in North Macedonia's laboratories over the weekend, 1,171 came back positive for the airborne virus. Of them, 275 were confirmed reinfections. And three deaths have been added to the country's official COVID-19 death toll, which is 9,373 at the moment, health authorities said Monday. According to the Ministry of Health citing Institute of Public Health data, there are now 4,974 active SARS-CoV-2 cases nationwide, of which 1,948 in Skopje. Of the 1,171 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 485 were diagnosed in Skopje. New infections were also reported in Bitola – 87, Kavadarci – 78, Prilep – 61, Kumanovo – 60, Ohrid – 51, Gostivar – 49, Veles – 43, Tetovo – 32, Shtip and Struga – 29 each, Strumica – 28, Kichevo – 23, Gevgelija – 18, Negotino – 15, Resen – 14, Kochani – 13, Radovish – 11, Sveti Nikole, Kriva Palanka, Debar and Valandovo – 6 each, Vinica and Demir Hisar – 5 each, Bogdanci – 3, Berovo, Kratovo and Krushevo – 2 each, Makedonski Brod and Demir Kapija – one new infection in each town. Officially, 1,390 people recovered from their acute infection. Three people died from SARS-CoV-2 in the past 24 hours. They were from Skopje and they were aged 75, 80, and 83. All of them died in hospital. Since the start of the pandemic, 9,373 people have died in North Macedonia from SARS-CoV-2. The country's laboratories have performed a total of 2,118,638 coronavirus tests, officially logging 328,180 COVID-19 cases and declaring 313,833 recoveries. mr/
