Bislimoski: ESM to directly help schools and Macedonian companies with favorable electricity prices, and not through EVN
Skopje, 17 October 2022 (MIA) - Energy Regulatory Commission president Marko Bislimoski said Monday that the end goal is for primary and secondary schools, Macedonian companies, public utility companies and treatment plants to get a lower price for electricity than the market price and instead of financing EVN and paying it a margin, ESM should sell it to them directly. “I suggest ESM, through its sales company, sells directly to these categories of consumers at a price that will be as low as possible than the price that is currently in the regulated market for small consumers. In that way, we will avoid EVN Home being given additional money for margin, and we will ensure that ESM, as a state company, which received state subsidies will reduce these subsidies,” Bislimoski told TV 24. In this way, as he noted, schools, companies and public utility companies will be helped at a price that is favorable for them and acceptable. With the proposal of the opposition, if all of them return to the regulated electricity market, in that case the price of electricity that ESM will sell to EVN Home is 48 euros per megawatt hour, but the margin of EVN Home will increase by an additional 5 to 6 million euros,” Bislimoski noted. According to him, this will put additional pressure on increasing the price paid by all consumers on the regulated market after 1 January, 2023.
