Skopje, 4 August 2024 (MIA) - Eight wildfires are still active out of 13 that were registered on Sunday, the head of the Crisis Management Center Stonajche Angelov has said.

Angelov said the most serious wildfire is raging in the Municipality of Makedonski Brod and it poses a threat to the village of Breznica, but he noted he is convinced the village will be protected. Helicopters, 40 Hungarian firefighters, and 50 professional soldiers are engaged in the battle against the wildfire.

The CMC head said the second most serious wildfire is on Ilinska Mountain in the Municipality of Demir Hisar.

Fires are burning above the village of Kosel in Ohrid; Bogdanci near Pogana; as well as in Gevgelija, where the fire is getting close to a military building, but, Angelov said, the Army is protecting the building.
